A pet sofa cover can help protect upholstery from everyday fur, damp paws and spills. This guide helps you choose the right coverage and fabric for your home in Australia.
Measure each part of the sofa
Measure seat width and depth, backrest height, armrests and any chaise section in centimetres. Decide whether you want to cover only your pet’s resting spot or separate seats, backrests and arms. Panel sizes describe individual pieces; a 90 × 180 cm panel does not automatically cover every part of a three-seater sofa.
Waterproof, non-slip and scratch-resistant are different features
A waterproof layer helps prevent everyday liquids reaching the upholstery. A non-slip backing helps reduce movement, with results varying by sofa surface. A tightly woven or thicker fabric can provide a barrier against everyday claw marks. Check the selected product’s description rather than assuming every cover has all three features.
Compare materials
- Waterproof Chenille Sofa Cover: chenille weave, waterproof layer, non-slip backing and single-panel or multi-piece options.
- Sherpa-Style Waterproof Sofa Cover: soft fleece, waterproof inner layer and non-slip backing.
- Waterproof Flannel Pet Mat: a soft flannel option for a pet’s resting spot on the couch.
Panel sizing example
The chenille and sherpa-style models list panels including 70 × 70, 90 × 90, 90 × 120, 90 × 160, 90 × 180 and 90 × 210 cm. Compare these with your own measurements. Multi-piece sets include separate parts; check exactly what is included on the product page before ordering.
Washing and care
Shake or brush off loose fur before washing. Check the care label for each fabric and keep within its temperature and drying limits. The chenille cover’s listed instructions specify a gentle wash up to 30°C, no bleach or ironing, and air drying or low tumble drying. Do not apply those instructions to a different model without checking its label.
